Why Louis Academy

Why Louis Academy

Fully Accredited Curriculum

  • Louis Academy adopts two world-class fully-accredited curriculums in the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) for our Early Childhood Programs and the world renowned Cambridge International Curriculum for all of our Primary School Programs.
  • An IEYC and Cambridge Education is a gateway to the future and is recognized by elite educational institutes, universities, and employers all around the world. Over 1,400 universities across the globe recognize Cambridge qualifications, including universities across Japan.
  • Our curriculum focuses on deep subject knowledge, higher order thinking skills, and practical application of knowledge that is transferable to real-life situations.
  • All Louis Academy teachers are highly trained and certified professionals that complete ongoing Professional Development through Cambridge on an annual basis.

Bilingual Curriculum

  • Louis Academy offers a fully immersive English curriculum and environment for all of our students. Japanese is then integrated for the purpose of building bilingual learners. Our Japanese curriculum is split into two tracks - JLPT and Kokugo.
  • Our JLPT track utilizes the Japanese Language Proficiency Test to benchmark student learning. JLPT track students are expected to receive a N3 JLPT qualification upon graduating from Primary School. This puts Louis Academy students on track to obtain a N1 JLPT qualification prior to high school graduation, thus opening the door to Japanese universities and employment at Japanese companies.
  • Our Kokugo Program is our Japanese "equivalency program" that utilizes the exact same Japanese language learning standards, benchmarks, curriculum, and materials as a local Japanese school. This program ensures that students maintain a native level of Japanese that enables a smooth transition into the Japanese school system, Japanese universities, or Japanese companies.

Differentiated Educational Programing

  • At Louis Academy we celebrate the fact that every child is unique. We understand that children learn in myriad different ways, and have a diversity of talents encompassing more than one area. With this in mind, Louis Academy adopts an approach of Differentiated Learning catered to each and every child.
  • With Differentiated Learning, each child at Louis Academy has the opportunity to challenge tasks and materials that are tailored to their unique learning needs. This ensures that each child benefits equally from every lesson, and in a manner that recognizes and celebrates their individual learning.
  • Students at Louis Academy are provided challenging content that allows them to grow at their own pace, without limits. This means that our students never feel bored or overwhelmed, encouraging them to develop a deep love and connection with life-time learning.

Parents as Partners

One of Louis Academy’s greatest strengths is its organizational culture. We believe that all members of a school community must function as a cohesive family unit, in order for anyone to succeed. Our open, transparent, and inclusive approach adopts a philosophy of shared leadership and we welcome parents to get directly involved in their child’s education at Louis Academy by volunteering at school, attending our Open Houses, or participating in our Community Nights.

Some of our highlights of our partnership and open communication with parents are as follows

  • Availability of daily face to face or written communication with Louis Academy staff members
  • Daily updates on our Louis Academy social media accounts
  • Biannual face to face Parent Teacher Conferences and Open Houses where you can sit in and observe your child’s educational experience
  • Twice yearly Community Nights where both parents and teachers can join together to engage in professional development related to raising and educating children.
Moral & Social Development
  • At Louis Academy we believe in holistic education that fosters academic excellence, social fluency, and strong moral character.
  • At Louis Academy all students are engaged in regular values education through our “Knights Code of Chivalry Program,” which identifies one moral code or social value each month that will become the focus of our school environment.  Utilizing specialized stories, projects, role-play and community involvement, our students explore and practice these moral and social values.
  • Louis Academy’s “Guild Award System assigns each student to their own guild where they work cooperatively with guild mates to develop positive academic and social behaviors. The Guild System is a fun and competitive team-based system that encourages, recognizes, and rewards positive behavior both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • All Louis Academy students participate in annual community involvement projects such as disaster relief, environmental cleanup, or supplying impoverished schools in order to develop a sense of societal worth and the importance of ‘giving back’ from a young age.
Diverse Enrichment Programming
  • As part of Louis Academy’s belief in holistic education, we believe it is essential for students to be enriched beyond the classroom so that their creative interests can take flight. With this in mind we offer a wide range of Enrichment Programming:
  • Ballet
  • Piano
  • Violin
  • Martial Arts
